Cleaning your home with Lemons
When life gives you lemons, clean with them! I love having a bowl full of lemons in my house; not only do they brighten up my kitchen, but they are incredibly handy for cleaning with their sweet scent and antiseptic properties. Using lemons means fewer toxins, which is better for you, the environment, and your purse!
Kitchen Zest
- Wooden Chopping Board: Sprinkle coarse salt over the board, then scour with half a lemon. Let sit for 15 minutes, scrape away the bits, and rinse.
- Microwave Steam: Put lemon halves in a microwave-safe bowl of cold water and microwave on full power for 5 minutes. The steam releases grease effortlessly.
- Limescale Killer: Run a lemon half over taps with limescale. For kettles, boil water with used lemon halves, leave for 30 minutes, boil again, and rinse.
- Dishwasher: Pour lemon juice into the sealed tablet section and run a rinse cycle for a fresh, clean machine.
Odour & Marks
Fridge: Soak a sponge in lemon juice and leave it on a saucer overnight. Hard Water: Rub marks with half a lemon and bicarbonate of soda for easy removal.
