Household items that you can forget to clean.
"Out of sight, out of mind" is the saying—but if you can't see it, it doesn't mean the germs aren't there! There are some items in the home that we simply forget to clean. Is it time to factor these into your routine?
The Dust Magnets
- Extractor Fans: They clog up and lose efficiency! Use a vacuum nozzle weekly, or an old mascara brush for deep-seated grime.
- Door Frames: People do the "sneaky door frame test" when they visit! Dust them weekly with a dry cloth.
- Light Shades: Use a lint roller on fabric shades to gently pick up settled dust.
High-Touch Tech
- Devices & Remotes: Your phone carries more germs than a toilet seat! Wipe daily with antibacterial cleaner.
- PVC Frames: Use a damp cloth and a tiny bit of cream cleaner to shift grubby finger marks from window and door frames.
Bathroom & Kitchen Neglect
Behind the Loo
Don't just clean the seat! Get on your hands and knees weekly to tackle the dust and grime that builds up right at the back of the toilet base.
Shower Curtains
To stop that orange limescale effect, pop the curtain in the wash with white wine vinegar instead of detergent. Always leave it pulled shut to air dry.
House Plant Hygiene
It might sound bizarre, but you should hoover your plants! Dust settles on leaves, blocking their light. Give them a light vacuum with the nozzle or a wipe with a microfibre cloth.
