How to keep your bath towels fresh

Fresh & Fluffy Towel Care | Queen of Clean
Freshly folded towels

There is nothing worse than pulling a bath towel from the cupboard and noticing that it does not smell clean. While we love thick, absorbent towels, they hold onto moisture longer—and moisture leads to bacteria. YUK!

Fresh Air & Daily Care

  • Keep Air Circulating: Use a ventilation fan after your shower to dry the room.
  • Rails Over Hooks: Towel rails allow air to reach every part of the towel before bacteria starts to grow.
  • Line Freshness: Pop your towels on a washing line outside for 30 minutes to air dry whenever possible.

The Golden Wash Rules

Less is More: Never overuse detergent; stick to the correct dose to avoid residue. Separate Loads: Wash towels together in a laundry basket using a laundry cleanser to ensure they are germ-free.

Say NO to Fabric Conditioner

Conditioner coats fibres and destroys absorbency. If you want a fresh scent, try adding a few drops of essential oils to your wash instead!

Drying for Success

  • The Big Shake: Shake towels out before drying. It fluffs the fibres—especially helpful before placing them on a heated rail.
  • Tumble Tips: Use wool dryer balls to keep the air flowing and speed up the process.
  • Indoor Drying: Use a sturdy drying rack in a ventilated room to prevent damp smells.
PRO TIP: Use white vinegar as a natural disinfectant! It strips away product residue and kills bacteria.
