How to clean effectively with a dog
Bringing an indoor pet into my family has not been the easiest task for a clean freak like me! With my daughter being an asthma sufferer, we had to be incredibly careful. Here is how I manage a pristine home with our hypoallergenic Cockapoo, Hetty.
Tackling Allergens & Pet Hair
Even with a hypoallergenic breed, puppies still produce dead skin and fine dust. To keep my home a safe zone and improve air quality, I use an HEPA air purifier alongside my Vorwerk Kobold VK200 Ultimate Homecare System:
- The PB440 Attachment: I use this electric upholstery brush for a deep-clean across sofas, stairs, and curtains. It pulls out every last bit of hair and skin.
- Asthma Friendly: The system is designed to remove 99.99% of allergens, including mite excrement, which reduces the risk of sneezing attacks.
- Daily Grooming: I brush Hetty daily using a slicker brush and vacuum the area immediately. I also use an extendable microfibre duster for surfaces to trap fine particles.
Protecting the Furniture
I have covered all my sofas with luxury waffle throws to keep Hetty's scent and hair off. Her dog bed is also washed on a regular basis with antibacterial laundry cleanser! Use a sturdy laundry basket to stay organised.
Preventing Outdoor Muck
Dogs pick up so much dirt outside! Every time Hetty comes in, I use biodegradable paw wipes or a portable paw cleaner to ensure no muck is tracked through. Preparation is key to saving time on cleaning later.
