BBQ cleaning Tips
Now that BBQ season is here, you are probably wondering how to clean it! There’s a high chance you postponed the job after your last garden party, but I’ve put together my top tips to help you clean up quickly using items already in your kitchen.
Kitchen Cupboard Heroes
- Onion: Pop half an onion onto a BBQ fork and rub over the racks while the BBQ is still hot. Onions have antiseptic properties and will cut through dirt and grease!
- Lemons & Salt: The bigger the better! Slice a lemon in half, dip into coarse salt, and rub over hot charcoal grills for abrasive, antibacterial action.
- Beer: If you have a stray bottle hanging around, pour it over the grills, leave for 15 minutes, and scrub with a stiff brush or old newspaper.
- Bicarbonate of Soda: Sprinkle bicarbonate of soda over the grill, spray with water, and leave it to do its magic.
Natural & Easy Fixes
Grass: Lay your racks on long grass overnight. The dewy ground helps loosen grime. Steam: Place a sheet of newspaper on a hot BBQ, spray with water from a spray bottle, and close the lid to steam clean!
The Heavy Duty Tools
Pressure Washer: Use a pressure washer on a medium setting. Soak: Use a large plastic tub with warm soapy water and white vinegar.
PRO TIP: Always try to clean your BBQ as soon as you have finished cooking—the grease and grime will remove so much easier than if left to set!
