Dishwasher Cleaning
Your dishwasher cleans your plates, so if your machine isn’t clean, your dishes won't be either! I aim to deep clean mine fortnightly using all-natural products to keep it running perfectly and smelling fresh.
The Fortnightly Deep Clean
I love cleaning with natural products, especially lemons! Follow these simple steps to break down grease and gunk:
- The Filter: Empty the filter (most simply twist and pull). Check your manual if you're unsure how to remove it!
- Wipe the Seals: Mix white vinegar, neat lemon juice, and water in a spray bottle. Wipe down all seals and around the door to break down hidden grime.
- The Hot Cycle: Place a cup of white vinegar mixed with lemon juice in the top rack and run a hot cycle to dissolve grease.
- Deodorise: Once the cycle finishes, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda at the bottom. No need to rinse—leave it until your next use to kill nasty smells!
Why Lemons?
Lemons are amazing at breaking down dirt and grime. Plus, they leave a beautiful, fresh scent behind that natural vinegar alone can't provide.
Eco-Friendly Habits
Always ensure your dishwasher is fully filled before starting a load. I recommend using eco-friendly dishwasher tablets on an overnight setting to save energy!
PRO TIP: Buying cleaning vinegars and juices in supermarkets can be pricey! Look for bulk options online to keep your "Queen of Clean" kit stocked up for less.
