Fridge cleaning

Fridge Cleaning & Organisation | Queen of Clean
Organised fridge interior

Don't forget the hardest working appliance in your kitchen! A dirty fridge can lead to smells and cross-contamination. With a staggering 18% of people only cleaning theirs once a year, it's time to get organised!

The Weekly Quick-Clean

Schedule your clean for the day before your shopping arrives when the fridge is nearly empty. It takes minutes but keeps you on top of hygiene!

  1. Empty: Take everything out and check those "use by" dates. If in doubt, chuck it out!
  2. Wash: Remove shelves and wash with warm soapy water using washing up liquid. Use a cold Scrub Daddy for any sticky patches.
  3. Dry: Thoroughly dry shelves with a microfibre cloth before popping them back in to avoid fresh condensation.
  4. Exterior: Wipe the outside with a general-purpose spray. For stainless steel, use white vinegar and water, then buff dry with an e-cloth.

Master Your Food Zones

Placement Matters

To avoid contamination: Keep meats and fish on the mid-tier shelf. Dairy and juices should go where the cold air blows, while eggs and butter belong in the covered compartments.

Bins & Baskets

Use plastic baskets to group items. Keeping all your sandwich condiments in one bin means you can pull it out in one go, preventing the door from staying open too long!

PRO TIP: Use recycled takeaway containers for leftovers! They are the perfect size, stack easily, and you can label them with a chalk marker so nothing gets forgotten.
