How to remove sticker residue
How can I remove sticker residue from glass and plastic easily?
We’ve all been therepeeling off a price tag only to be left with that annoying, sticky grey patch. Whether it’s label adhesive on kitchen jars or stubborn stickers left by the kids on furniture, removing residue serves as a quick win when you have the right tricks up your sleeve!
Natural Solvents for Kitchen & Glass
This cleaning mixture serves 1 sticky area:
For items that touch food, keep it natural! Mix equal parts olive oil and white vinegar. Rub the paste onto the residue and let it sit for 10 minutes. Scrub gently with a bamboo toothbrush, then wipe away with warm soapy water for a non-toxic, sparkling result. This is perfect for upcycling glass storage jars!
Tough Residue Removal Hacks
WD-40 Smart Fix
For plastic, metal, or painted surfaces, WD-40 is a total miracle worker! Spray the area, wait 2 minutes, and watch the adhesive melt away. Use a plastic scraper tool to lift the loosened glue without scratching the finish.
Rubbing Alcohol Method
If you're dealing with thin, papery residue on mirrors or windows, saturate a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol dissolves the chemical bonds of the glue, allowing you to peel it away in one satisfying piece.
SURFACE TIP:
For a professional finish, use a drop of orange essential oil. The limonene in the oil is a natural degreaser that smells incredible! Always use a plastic razor scraper rather than metal to avoid permanent scratches.
Heat Application & Finish
If a sticker is proving really stubborn, reach for your hair dryer. Blast the sticker with warm air for 30 seconds to soften the adhesive before peeling. For any lingering "ghost" marks, a dab of Sticky Stuff Remover on a microfibre cloth will finish the job. Remember to always test a small, hidden area first!
