Upholstery sofa cleaning

Sofa Cleaning Guide | Queen of Clean
Clean and comfortable sofa setup

From TV dinners to snuggling with pets, our sofas take a lot of wear and tear. Body oils, dust mites, and food particles can all lurk in the fabric, causing allergies and irritation. Here is how to keep your couch looking and smelling like new!

The Bicarbonate Deep Clean

Bicarbonate of soda is fantastic for removing grime and embedded dirt. Always test an inconspicuous area first!

  1. Brush: Use a stiff brush to remove crumbs, dust, and surface debris.
  2. Sprinkle: Cover the couch in bicarbonate of soda (mix with essential oils for a fresh scent!) and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Vacuum: Use the brush attachment on your hoover to thoroughly remove the powder.
  4. Steam: If you have a steamer, lightly steam from 30cm away to kill germs.
  5. Refresh: Finish with an antibacterial spray or fabric refresher.

Tough Stain Remover

Mix 3/4 cup warm water, 1/4 cup white vinegar, and one tablespoon of washing up liquid. Scrub with a hard brush and blot dry immediately. Don't rub!

Daily Maintenance

Hoover your sofa daily and puff your cushions. Wash your cushion covers as often as possible and try to keep eating at the table to avoid sticky marks and crumbs.

PRO TIP: If you have pets or like to eat on the sofa, invest in a beautiful washable throw! It’s much easier to pop a blanket in the wash than to deep clean the whole upholstery.
