Italian Shepherd's Pie
A delicious Mediterranean twist on the classic comfort dish, swapping traditional mash for golden mozzarella and sweet tomatoes!
How to make
Brown & Sauté
In a large frying pan, brown the mince beef until cooked through. Drain any excess fat, then add the finely chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
Create the Sauce
Stir in the tomato purée, chopped tomatoes, and dried herbs. Simmer gently for 15-20 minutes until the sauce has thickened and smells fragrant.
Layer Up
Transfer the meat mixture into an oven-proof dish. Slice the mozzarella balls and layer them over the top, covering the meat completely.
Bake until Golden
Place in a preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
